Zack Snyder has been confirmed as the man who will take charge of Superman, and reboot one of the most popular comic book characters of all time.

Deadline.com broke the story of Snyder's involvement, and even got a quote from him: "It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David (S. Goyer) and Chris (Nolan) have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern." He said, before adding, "I've always felt he was kind of awesome. I'll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it." Sucker Punch looks absolutely gorgeous, while his latest effort, the animated Legend of the Guardians, is currently showing strong legs at the box-office.

My first choice was Ben Affleck, but he apparently knocked them back after Nolan suggested Warner Bros. offer him the gig. Snyder has directed, in my opinion, one of the best comic adaptations of all time - Watchmen. He's also responsible for the best horror remake - Dawn of the Dead. Can't wait to see what he does with The Man of Steel. Rumour mill will now firmly turn to casting. The Social Network's Armie Hammer is the latest name being linked.
