In case your Internet's been out for the past 24 hours, the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was released yesterday as part of the annual Celebration event.

As well as showcasing the latest glimpse at the eagerly-awaited return to a galaxy far, far away, director JJ Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and (squee!) Mark Hamill turned up onstage to greet fans and answer some long-burning questions.

Here's a complete rundown on what we know and what we think we know.

10. THAT DESERT PLANET ISN'T TATOOINE

Tatooine, as diehards will know, was the setting of A New Hope, Return of the Jedi and -shudder- The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. However, a surprise reveal was made yesterday that the desert vistas we've seen in both trailers is an entirely new planet called Jakoo. So, huh, yeah. Jakoo. Not Tatooine. Go figure.

9. THE EMPIRE ISN'T THE EMPIRE ANYMORE AND THE REBELLION ISN'T THE REBELLION ANYMORE

We didn't learn this from the on-stage discussion, but from fans who are actually there in Anaheim, California. It's understood that there were a number of props from the new movie on display and that their titles were displayed alongside them. So, what's the Empire called now? The First Order. And the Rebellion? The Resistance. Tomato, tomatoe.

8. DARTH VADER IS GOING TO BE A SIGNIFICANT FIGURE IN THE NEW SERIES

Also, we're probably reading into this, but the monologue in the trailer was present tense. "I have it, my father has it, my sister has it..." Although we're pretty damn certain that Darth Vader since, y'know, Luke Skywalker finished the job Obi-Wan Kenobi started in Revenge of the Sith by setting his ass on fire.

7. PRACTICAL SETS AND EFFECTS ARE IN, CGI IS OUT

We knew this already, but it's telling that JJ Abrams reiterated this onstage. Practical, tangible sets are a huge part of selling Star Wars back to fans who were put off by George Lucas' groundbreaking if misconceived notions of replacing everything with blue-screen. Abrams knows this, knows what fans want to hear and wasn't afraid to push himself off from Lucas.

6. EVERYONE IS VERY THANKFUL TO THE FANS

Did they mention that? It's been two minutes. Better mention it again.

5. WE STILL DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHO THAT CHROME STORMTROOPER IS

Nothing's been confirmed as yet, but we know Gwendoline Christie is playing a role in this and another in the follow-up to this. Word on the metaphorical street is is that she'll play a sort of Boba Fett-esque character called Captain Phasma and has a - you guessed it - a suit of chrome. Again, nothing confirmed but we're pretty certain it's her.

4. THERE'LL BE SOME MORE INSPIRATION AND ADVANCEMENTS IN WOMEN'S HAIRSTYLES

That's according to Carrie Fisher, who said that the infamous hair-buns have been retired and that there's something on the horizon that everyone will like. It's not the metal bikini, either. Which, frankly, is a crying shame.

3. THAT LIGHTSABER IN THE TRAILER? YOU'VE SEEN IT BEFORE

It was Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from The Empire Strikes Back that originally belonged to Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. We're certain of it.

2. BB-8 IS ACTUALLY A WORKING ROBOT

The little football that's captured the imaginations of children and grown children alike is actually a fully-functional, moving robot that we desperately want to believe has a sassy attitude and knows what we're saying. We just need to learn what the beeps and boops mean.

1. WOMEN ARE GOING TO FEATURE MORE PROMINENTLY IN THE NEW SERIES

So says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. We're seeing it already in the castings, too. Daisy Ridley, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong'o, Carrie Fisher - there's probably more in there. Not only that, the first castmember announced for spin-off Rogue One was Felicity Jones.

So that's pretty much it. There'll be more announcements as the weeks and months go on, but it's the first glut of confirmed information we've had in some time. What did we make of the trailer? What's your thoughts on the cast and everything you've seen so far? What's up with Anthony Daniels in general?

Sound off in the comments!
