Predators Director Talks About The Film
01 December 2009
Up until Robert Rodriguez came on board as a writer/producer, Predators was not a film that I held out much hope for. While the man behind the bullet-ridden carnage of Desperado isn't helming, the care he has taken in choosing Nimrod Antal to take the reins is hugely encouraging.
The director spoke to Coming Soon and spewed this: "I think (Rodriguez and I) recognize that the original film was as good as it was because of the practical, because it was a guy in a suit, because it was the jungle, so we stay true to that. We were in Hawaii for a month in the jungle, so there's going to be some pretty impressive locations."
Adrian Brody's casting raised eyebrows, but Antal is convinced he's got the right look for what he's trying to do: "He plays a mercenary in the film and if you look at the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan today, they're not yolked-out Schwarzenegger-looking guys. They're all very wiry and thin, and I think it's going to play well."
He then finally added, with an air of confidence: "I think that the fans who may have been underwhelmed by the last two AVP films, are in for a very pleasant surprise." I think I speak for the collective when I say, I really f**king hope so.
