Shameless Plug Alert: Charity Zumbathon in aid of National Children's Hospital

It's been a while since I overshared on this page, and this time it's for a good cause - promise.

Every Wednesday and Saturday since July, I've been hopping up and down while wiggling like a demented ferret in various halls around South County Dublin. Why? Oh, just a little thing called Zumba.

At these gatherings, a rather energetic man named Lukasz gleefully roars his head off at us while we giggle our way through an hour's workout - which seems more like ten minutes at a rave circa 1994.

Anyway, now that Lukasz and the good people behind Zumbagalaxy.com have legions of students across Dublin, they have decided to throw a Zumbathon in UCD Sports Hall on Saturday February 25th, in aid of The National Children's Hospital, Tallaght.

Here's a few words from them: Over 65,000 young people attend The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght, every year. Having looked after young people for so many years we know how important it is to focus on caring for the needs of both the sick child and their families. The hospital prides itself on providing excellent care in a number of areas including, Endocrinology, Surgery, Radiology, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, Asthma and allergies. There is also a very busy paediatric A&E department that sees over 30,000 children a year, extensive research into the area of childhood illness is carried out in the hospital, and Trinity College’s Paediatric Department is also based here.

"What is Zumba" was one of 2011's most Googled terms. The millions who searched for it were met with the below video, which has had 21,721,545 views since it was first posted roughly 5 years ago (hence why the quality's a bit on the ropey side)… When you watch it you'll realise why. Her name's Tanya Beardsley by the way...
