Ah. The build up to The Oscars. There's nothing like it. There's more pointless 'pre-award-show-parties' than you would want to shake something pointy at. So, who attends these things? Five percent actual noteworthy folk, 95% hangers desperately trying to feel part of the circus.

A number of events have been taking place in the run up to Sunday night's ceremony (coverage of which you'll be able to see on our Oscars Page. I'll be live blogging regarding the red carpet from 11pm - assuming I can stay awake. Then Mike will be taking over from 1am to comment on the ceremony itself. There will be the usual slew of photos, opinionated opinion pieces regarding the winners, dresses and speeches, plus video footage from the carpet, the reaction of the winners backstage, AND coverage of Elton John's flouncy aftershow party. It's all go *mops brow*).

Nothing spectacular happened at any of these aforementioned pre-party parties, but that shouldn't stop us from gawping at the dresses on display.

Over in Caught Out, you can marvel at those who attended the Global Green Pre-Oscar Party (including Diane Kruger, Serena Williams, Jessica Alba, and one Nia Vardalos who's looking a bit manic because she seems to have made it a personal mission to attend every pre-Oscars party going this year.

Here, feel free to peruse through the photos from the snappy entitled Hollywood Reporter Nominees Night Prelude to Oscar Party, as well as the 3rd Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Party , and the 3rd Annual Pre-Oscar Hollywood Domino Gala Party. See real-life movie sorts rub shoulders with Lady Victoria Hervey's tan, Eva Longoria's eye-searing number, a lot of people in black (Terri 'I'm TOTALLY fine about it' Seymour, Michelle Rodriguez, Molly Simms, James Marsden, Mia Maestro, Oscar nominated Jeremy Renner, Olivia Munn, Matt Dillon, Elsa 'yes, the tattoo hurt horribly' Pataky), someone who thought they were dressing for The Oscars, and what is reputed to be Mena Suvari's hair (what is that? When is that a good idea? If she was trying to cover up an expansive forehead it's slightly backfired)... and Nia Vardalos. Aaaand Nia Vardalos, again.
