Yesterday, passing reference was made to a grim story involving Michael Fassbender. As mentioned, I tried getting in contact with his agent, but was blanked. I wanted to give them the chance to denounce the allegations being made against him, 'cause, you know, for all intents and purposes he does come across as a really nice guy... Today, it's front page news in The Sun. So here are the findings.
TMZ reported this yesterday: "The actor who plays the British Lieutenant in Inglourious Basterds (he's also been in Band of Brothers, starred in Hunger and Fish Tank) allegedly broke his ex-girlfriend's nose after a night of heavy boozing ... and now she wants protection from a judge, and stat. Michael Fassbender's ex - Sunawin 'Leasi' Andrews - filed a petition for a restraining order against him earlier this month in L.A. County Superior Court. In the documents, Andrews claims Michael hit the bottle hard during a film festival in July of 2009 - and after he woke up in a puddle of his own urine, he became violent and 'threw me over a chair breaking my nose.' Andrews also says Michael allegedly dragged her alongside their car one night after they had an argument about one of her ex-boyfriends ... causing her to twist her left ankle, blow out her left knee cap and (just when you thought the story couldn't be more grim) burst an ovarian cyst. Andrews says she fears for her life and wants to keep Michael 100 yards away from herself and her two children - and wants over $20,000 to help her pay her medical bills from the injuries he allegedly caused. Repeated attempts to reach Michael's agent were unsuccessful."
The Sun managed to get in contact with Michael's father, Josef: "I don't know where she is getting story from, Michael is the most gentle man you could ever meet.. I only met her once in Cannes." When informed by the paper that she has filed a restraining order against his son ("bizarrely" nine months after the alleged incident), Josef said: "Is she? That's funny now, sure MIchael has been in England for the last six months (filming)."
When asked if his son "was just the typical Irish guy who like a sociable drink or two, Josef admitted: 'That's probably true, yes'."
