Kate Beckinsale: Lily's 'Twilight' obsession almost ruined Christmas

Kate Beckinsale's daughter almost ''ruined'' Christmas because of her obsession with the 'Twilight' franchise.

Thirteen-year-old Lily - from Kate's previous eight-year relationship with Michael Sheen - was so fixated on the books that they once dominated the whole of the festive season.

Kate explained: ''She read 'Twilight' and was completely obsessed with them. It actually almost ruined Christmas one year because all she wanted to do was be a vampire and she didn't want anything on her Christmas list.''

Like her daughter, Kate loves to read and says it is a habit she inherited from her own mother.

Joining forces with The Nestle Share the Joy Reading Programme for National Reading Month, she told US Weekly: ''I've been very obsessed with reading since I was tiny.

''My mum was a big reader and very much imposed reading on me and I'm the same with my daughter, who's a huge reader.''

The 38-year-old actress - who married film maker Len Wiseman in 2004 - read to Lily, ''every night for 11 something years'' until it became ''a little less appropriate'', and even made it all the way through the Harry Potter books.

She added: ''I did read the entire Harry Potter, which, you know they got pretty long in the end. We did all that and that was a really fun thing for us.''
