It's a Woody Allen film; we get the existential angst, sexual frustration and the deadpan gags that puncture the myth of Mom's apple pie and the American way. What we don't get is Woody. On the plus side, the gags are as strong as ever and the cameos are wonderful; but a Woody Allen movie without Woody Allen is a decaff cappuccino - all froth and no kick.
