In the wake of the allegations of domestic abuse being levelled at Johnny Depp by his estranged wife Amber Heard, Depp's former fiancee Winona Ryder has opened up about her time with the A lister.

In a recent interview with Time, Ryder spoke about her own experience of being with Depp which she describes as wildly different to the accusations being made by Heard.

"I mean, he was never, never that way towards me," Ryder told Time. "Never abusive at all towards me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves."

However Ryder did concede that it's been a long time since she and Depp were together.

"It’s hard because I feel like — that’s my experience. And it’s been a very long time."

Ryder met Depp when she was 17 and they were together for four years. During the interview, Ryder admitted that even talking about the Depp situation made her nervous.

"I’m just saying, it’s difficult and upsetting for me to wrap my head around it," she said. "I just never heard anything like that about him. But, again, I feel like even saying that, I’m going to get death threats or something. I’m not on social media, so maybe I will be spared."
