Awkward…

Rita Ora may have had a number of hit songs including ‘Your Song’, ‘I Will Never Let You Down’, ‘How We Do’ and ‘Radioactive’ but it would seem her face isn’t as globally recognisable as her music.

The singer recently tried to do a prank on the German version of ‘The Voice’ but it slightly backfired when the judges didn’t actually know who she was.

Rita Ora went onto the show’s ‘blind auditions’, during which the judges are turned away from the stage so they can’t see the singer, and she sang her single ‘Your Song’.

The prank could have gone worse because at least all the judges did turn around (the equivalent of voting her through to the next round) but there was no sign of recognition on their faces when they did so.

Ora – who is also a judge on The Voice UK – played along saying she was a 26 year old aspiring musician from London, and when the judges commented that she sounded just like the original singer of the song, she revealed that her name is Rita Ora.

“OK, you’re kidding us. Just let us know, are you a double?” asked one coach.

“No, I’m not a double! I thought I’d come over here to crash the blind auditions,” Ora explained.

“Rita, I’m so glad that you’re saying this. Before, I said: ‘She could be the third-place in a lookalike contest. Second place in a soundalike contest,’” said another of the coaches. So awkward…
