"She started it, and it's time for her to finish it."
Not content with being host of a hit late night talk show, James Corden has decided he wants to be celebrity feud peacemaker too as he broached the topic of the Katy Perry v Taylor Swift feud when the former was his most recent guest on Carpool Karaoke.
If like us, you've always wondered what the feud between the pair was really about then thankfully Corden got to the bottom of it. Or at least Perry's version of events anyways. Long story short it boils down to some back up dancers and a lapse in communication between the two.
Perry is laying the blame squarely at Swift's feet, claiming that she attempted to smooth things out with her numerous times.
“I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me,” Perry tells Corden in the video.
“I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble,” Perry says. “It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me, and I’m like, OK, cool, cool, cool, that’s how you want to deal with it? Karma!”
It didn't end there.
“But what I want to say is that I’m ready for that BS to be done. Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something, there’s going to be a reaction, and trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma, right? I think personally that women together, not divided, and none of this petty bulls–t, women together will heal the world.”
Corden concluded the chat by asking would Perry be prepared to "remove the beef from the grill" if she received a text from Swift and Perry confirmed that she would be all for it.
"I'm going to get to the bottom of this." the host said. Here's hoping Taylor Swift will be just as forthcoming when her inevitable Carpool Karaoke appearance rolls around.
You can watch the rest of the Carpool Karaoke segment and it's well worth a look. The highlight is Corden clarifying with Perry as to whether she'd ever kissed Scarlett Johansson.
"Just to be clear, you haven't made out with Scarlett Johansson...." Corden inquired.
"No, but I'm ready." Perry replied.
