Harry Styles has just expanded his potential dating pool no end by insisting the gender of his partners doesn't really matter to him.

The One Directioner was being interviewed along with bandmate Liam Payne when he made the "revelation", insisting personality is the most important aspect.

When asked what traits the pair look for in a girlfriend, Liam told On Demand Entertainment: "Female. That's a good trait."

However, the 20-year-old singer giggles and retorted: "[It's] not that important!" You can see him say it from the 2:32 mark. Might be an idea to scrub to that point cause it's all a bit awks up until then...

He went on to explain that he thought a "sense of humour" and "someone who's nice..." were qualities which he deemed to be special. Naaaw. I'll be nice to ya Harry - AND I've got a beard, so it's a win win really. When Liam gives him grief for saying "nice" Harry bellows "Well you're not going to go out with a d*ckhead, are ya."

The singer - who has most recently been romantically linked to 32-year-old comedy writer Erin Foster (keep up) - has been a supporter of gay rights for several years, but has long been considered a ladies man due to his numerous flings with high-profile females including Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Caroline Flack and so on.

Rumours about the singer's sexuality have circulated since the band first rose to prominence in 2010, although he has previously denied that he is bisexual.

In an interview in 2013, Harry said: "Bisexual? Me? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I'm not."

Russell Howard says stuff about Nick Grimshaw and Harry Styles' 'odd' friendship.
