Charlie Sheen hasn't really spoken much about his HIV diagnosis since going public with it last November.

However, the former Two and a Half Men actor has discussed his condition in a sombre new ad for a condom brand.

In it, he talks about how the public admission of his diagnosis 'opened up a dialogue' about HIV, which was a positive thing. "When I went public with my HIV condition the amount of searches went up immediately by millions and a dialogue started taking place," he says in the promo. "People started coming out of the shadows and walking in the fear, and that was powerful.

"When I heard that, I was proud to have turned something that seemed so completely negative and disruptive into change and healing. Just to put words on it is empowering and a sense of relief."

He goes on to promote safe sex, talking about the importance of condoms - in particular innovative new condom Lelo Hex, which he is promoting. "What may feel like five seconds of inconvenience or a halted or thwarted moment can absolutely prevent a lifetime of potential grief and suffering," he adds.
