Whether or not this becomes a story that's passed down through generations to children to terrify them at bed time is all in the hands of American voters.

Benedict Cumberbatch took on the role of storytelling dad to son James Corden looking for a bedtime story on 'The Late Late Show' last night, telling him the tale of this year's U.S. presidential election and the all too ridiculous and terrible realities that came out of it.

Unfortunately Cumberbatch couldn't give us the fairytale ending we desperately need, but we can only live in hope.

Also, Benedict Cumberbatch really needs to get a side-gig recording children's bedtime stories because he really does do a stellar job at it.
