Madonna still thinks she's misunderstood, you know, if it means she can compare herself to a Duchess. At last night's premiere of Wallis she said to SKY News:

"I do know what it's like to be misunderstood on a global scale. She lived at a time when women didn't have opportunities like we do now. She didn't have the chance to defend herself so I'm taking that opportunity now... Even when I try something old and try music I come up against the critics. I cope by not reading anything."

Such is Madonna's self defence mechanism, she's not even aware of popular culture; when someone in the crowd bellowed "Who needs Lady GaGa?!", Madonna replied "Lady who?"

In fact, it's probably best that she doesn't read papers at all, what with them being filled with news that her brother's living under a bridge. The Sun reports:

"Madonna's brother has told how he is living on the street and surviving on church food parcels. Anthony Ciccone, 55, sleeps on a patch of dry concrete beneath a bridge - and fears he will die of cold this winter. He worked for dad Tony, 80, at the family's Michigan vineyard until being sacked last year. Anthony said: 'My family turned their back on me when I was having a hard time. This could happen to anybody.' Madonna, 53, has a £400million fortune and three homes in New York."

Good God, even Christopher Ciconne turned his back on him? Surely they should join forces to badmouth their sister at every opportunity.

Those who also attended Madonna's premiere last night include Graham Norton with a rather pretty date, Claudia Winkleman doing a fine Valentino impersonation, alongside  M.I.A.'s very impressive Tracey Emin impersonation.
