The Kardashian gene pool grows wider, as Kim and Kanye announce pregnancy

Prepare yourselves for the most talked about pregnancy of 2013. Rap mogul Kanye West and, er, TV star Kim Kardashian have announced that they are expecting their first child. Kanye announced the news live on stage last night in Atlantic City, saying: "Stop the noise and make noise for my baby mama!"

Their offspring, who has already been dubbed Kimye, will no doubt be the centre of a media storm up to (and after) its birth. Expect novelty Twitter accounts to pop up almost instantly.

The assorted Kardashians have been expressing their joy at the birth of their soon-to-be new relation/co-star on Twitter, with Kim's sister Kourtney saying: "Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can! Another angel to welcome to our family", while Klohe posting: "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Expecially when you are so freaking excited!"

Kardashian and West have been together since April 2012, but don't forget that Kim is still technically married to NBA star Kris Humphries, with whom she split from last year after 72 days of marriage. A divorce hearing is set for February 15th.
