Ronan Keating fumes as drunken man slags his height.

Ah Ronan Keating, you usually say it best when you say nothing at all but sometimes life is just too much of a rollercoaster and a Tom Cruise style lash out becomes inevitable.

The Sun report this morning how the Boyzone star is said to be FUMING after a drunken "fan" poked fun at his height before hoisting him in the air up at a VIP bar, backstage at the Isle of Wight Festival last Sunday. Fan, you say?

Ronan was in his element watching Bruce Springsteen close the festival when the 'incident' (LOL) happened.

Within minutes, security guards had the guy booted out of the bar but still, the vertically challenged singer was left throwing his toys out of the pram. I'd like to draw a correlation between small guys - Ronan and Cruise - and fan/paparazzi related freak outs but then Will Smith recently slapped someone on the red carpet for trying to kiss him and he, as it happens, is pretty damn tall.

A source at the bar said: "The man was showing off to his mates after they were laughing at Ronan for being small.. He always assumed Ronan was a lot taller and caught him unawares by lifting him up in the air for a prank... Not surprisingly Ronan wasn't happy at first and had a few stern words. After the punter was carted off by security, he saw the funny side... He always thought he was average height."

Average singer maybe, but average height? Nah.

Not a big fan of Ronan's but yer man was being an arse and deserved to be kicked out. The sort of people who end up in so-called VIP areas at gigs tend to rank fairly high on the dickheadometer.

Do you think maybe that was his job? To change lightbulbs in the Whitehouse without using a ladder? It might be. I can imagine the day he walked into the job interview and the guys in there must have just thought 'Wow!, we've got our guy!' and then offered him the job on the spot. And he might have been all like 'I just got to hand in my notice to the cloud inspecting department but then I'm all yours'. I'd say it happened like that. You're so lucky. I was in a CD store too and nothing like that happened to me.

People do take offense with their height, it's strange. I was in a store yesterday browsing through CDs and this guy on the other side of the shelf was hhhhhuuuuuuugggggeeee, his whole chest was actually over the top of the (pretty high) shelf, i just said "Jesus!" without thinking and he looked at me with hate, i just smiled and nodded, so he smiled back. Thank God. I'm no shorty, but wow, this guy could change a lightbulb in the White House without a ladder! So it's not just small guys who take offense. But in fairness to Ronan, that guy's a twerp, and actually could have been arrested for assault, hoisting someone into the air unawares is counted as assault.
