Pharrell is that friend that shows up to your Halloween party dressed up as "themselves".
The annual Oscars Lunch is a casual affair that invites nominees to gather for a social meal mostly away from the prying eyes of the media and the internet and allows them to mingle before the big night and all the pressures that come with it.

And yes, it really does have a bang of 'Sixth Year Graduation' off it.

Pharrell took the "casual" part of the whole thing a bit too literally, arriving dressed like your hungover friend that jumped on your long-organised brunch bandwagon because they just woke up and they're still a bit pissed, which really takes casual to a whole new level.
It also makes him very easy to spot in the now traditional "class photo", which this year featured 163 nominees (and makes for a middling game of 'Spot the Celeb' if you're bored).

The otherwise uneventful lunch was marked with a speech from Academy president Cheryl Boones Isaacs, who brought up last year's #OscarsSoWhite controversy and the corrections the Academy has made, as well as the realities of Trump's America that the community now face.
