Gillian Anderson has joined PETA’s latest campaign to prevent the cruel treatment of animals in fashion and other industries.

As she protests that she would “rather go naked than wear fur,” the star of X-Files joins other celebrities such as Pink and Hidden Figures star Taraji P. Henson who have stripped down for PETA’s fashion week ads to protest the use of fur on the runway. Designers who have stopped using fur and joined PETA’s cause include, most recently, Michael Kors and Gucci.

Anderson previously teamed up with PETA for a TV spot which followed the series finale of her show Hannibal. Now the actress features on a 70-foot billboard which will hang over Penn Station during New York Fashion Week this month.

In the photo, she wears nothing but a pair of costume cat ears and the message across the image is loud and clear.

“I found it liberating to use my body to make an important statement,” Anderson said (via EW) of teaming up with PETA for the photo shoot. “People tend to look away from anti-fur ads showing mangled animals, but they’re drawn to PETA’s ‘naked’ campaign, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
