Olly Murs has opened up about his experience of last year’s terror attack scare at London’s Oxford Circus.

The pop star and former X Factor contestant faced backlash last November after he sent a number of panicked tweets from Selfridges department store.

Some accused the singer of causing "needless panic" and later the incident was dismissed by police after they found "no casualties" or "evidence of any shots fired".

Murs remains adamant, however, that there was gunfire. He tells The Sun: "Whether they were shooting into the air, or whatever, something happened that day — whether it was covered up, I don’t know. Something happened, it was a bit of murky situation."

Describing the day in question, Murs said he was buying a massage chair as a Christmas present for his aunt when the staff of Selfridges informed him that someone was there with a gun. He ran into an office.

He continued: "One minute I’m sitting there and this guy’s saying, ‘If you press this button you get a massage’ — the next I’m getting thrown against a wall.

"And then there’s people screaming and running towards exits and I’m thinking, ‘What the f***?’

"I ran for my life thinking ‘Someone’s upstairs shooting.’ The noise of people screaming, it was terrifying."

Murs claims that while he did not hear shots fired himself, some of the staff and shoppers present said they did, with some of the people he hid with even claiming they saw a gun. However, there has been no official evidence of the claims.
