In the aftermath of something as heartbreaking and unfathomable as this weekend's Orlando shooting, there will always be an overwhelming display of love and togetherness that remind us of our unwavering and collective strength; a strength that emerges triumphant in the face of such adversity.

A strength that's imbued with the power to silence all acts of hate. Try as some lost souls might, love will always win. Always. In a touching tribute following this weekend's tragic events, Lady Gaga joined a vigil in LA, reading out the names of the victims with some touching words.

Upon listing the names of those who'll never be forgotten, a tearful Gaga said:

"I can't help but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself. This is an attack on everyone.

"Tonight I gather humbly with you, as a human being, in peace and sincerity, in commitment and solidarity, to take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of these innocent, beautiful people.

"I will not allow my anger and outrage over this attack to overshadow our need to honour those who are grieving truly for their lost ones. Lost members of the LGBT community.

"Tonight, right now, Orlando, we are united with you. And we are here to remember."

RIP to the 49 people who lost their lives.
