Never one to rise above the obvious, Joan Rivers went on the offensive against Adele on David Letterman during the week, ripping into the new Oscar winner's size and weight with some very base fat jokes. Even when she was booed for making the jokes, she kept on rolling out the punches, although did have time to add that Adele is a 'lovely woman', having previously made fun of her on Twitter saying 'On Sunday night, you could easily pick Adele's Oscar statuette out of a lineup. It was the only one wearing Spanx'. Now we're big Adele fans so if it comes down to it, we're firmly on her team. And there's really nothing very original about fat jokes at this stage now is there? We've all seen The Nutty Professor, we get the punchline already.
