Joan Rivers hasn't been having much luck lately, to put it mildly.

Following complications with throat surgery last week, the 81-year old comedian was rushed to hospital after she stopped breathing.

While it initially appeared that she was on the mend, sources close to the family say that she is on life support and cannot survive without them.

The source goes on to say that the family will have to decide by Thursday as to whether or not to keep her on the machine, however the hope is that she will fight through it and get better.

Meanwhile, a number of comedians took to Twitter to offer support and thoughts for Rivers, many of whom she worked with through the years.
