Although it was falsely claimed that Harrison Ford was a supporter of Donald Trump, the actor's been relatively quiet on the topic - until very recently, that is.

In a speech for Conservation International - of which Ford is an Executive Vice Chair - Ford went in hard on Donald Trump and the US administration's failings in the area of environmental science and climate change. "We face an unprecedented moment in this country. Today’s greatest threat is not climate change, not pollution, not flood or fire. It’s that we’ve got people in charge of important shit who don’t believe in science," said Ford.

He went on to strongly criticise politicians - namely, Trump - whose "political or economic self-interest denigrate or belittle sound scientific understanding of the causes and effects of human pressure on the environment."

"If we don’t stop the destruction of nature, nothing else will matter. Jobs won’t matter, our economies won’t matter, our freedoms and ethics won’t matter, our children’s education and potential won’t matter, peace, prosperity. If we end the ability of a healthy natural world to sustain humanity nothing else will matter, simply said."

Just in case you think Ford's being over-the-top, Trump's Environmental Protection Agency has just recently hired a man who legitimately believes that clean air is too clean for optimum health. Really. Robert Phalen, who was named to the EPA's Scientific Advisory Board, was also an advocate for animal testing - specifically, dogs - in the '80s. Again, you couldn't even make this shit up if you tried.
