It seems like another life entirely, but once upon a time you may remember the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt were briefly engaged.

The couple dated in the mid-1990s before splitting in 1997, but now Paltrow has revealed just how chivalrous her former fiance was.

She told Howard Stern that Harvey Weinstein had made a pass at her in the early part of her career, which she had touched upon in the New York Times last year when she said that he had asked her to give him a massage. "We had one instance in a hotel room where he made a pass at me,” she said. "It was out of the blue and I’ll tell you, I had been having the most incredible experience at Miramax.”

After telling Pitt about the incident, she then said that the actor confronted Weinstein at the opening of 'Hamlet' on Broadway in 1995, saying it was "the equivalent of throwing him against the wall", with him reportedly telling the disgraced producer: "If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.' Or something like that."

Paltrow added: "It was so fantastic because what he did was, he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet."
