As you may have read over the weekend, it transpires that your favourite '90s screen couple Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are actually married.

The whole thing kicked off when Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves were doing an interview with EW for their upcoming rom-com, 'Destination Wedding'. Ryder recalled an incident during the production of the 1992 horror classic 'Dracula', directed by Francis Ford Coppola, where she and Reeves were brought into a Greek Orthodox church and put through a ceremony by an actual priest who did the whole thing from the top to bottom.

Ryder claimed that the ceremony was actually legitimate, and in the eyes of the Greek Orthodox Church anyway, they're actually married. Reeves seemed a bit perplexed at first, but then recalled that they may actually be the case and sort of chuckled about it.

Just to make matters even weirder, The Guardian contacted the movie's director - the aforementioned Francis Ford Coppola - to get his take on it, and he backs up their story and believes that they may actually be married in the eyes of the Greek Orthodox Church. As Coppola tells it, he was unhappy with a stylised version that was first shot and then decided to get a real priest and do it in a real church to make it more authentic.

Too authentic, as it turns out, because the priest actually did the whole thing for real. "This is pretty authentic and I think very beautiful, because we actually did the ceremony and had the priest do the ceremony," explained Coppola. "So in a sense, when we were all done, we realised that Keanu and Winona really are married as a result of this scene and this ceremony."

Now, is this a marriage that would stand up in court? Did they sign a marriage licence? No. But, still, let us dream for a moment about our '90s Goth favourites being happily married because they both deserve it.
