If you've been following the Fyre Festival story on Twitter, you'll know that it's been the most wonderful bit of schadenfreude we've enjoyed this year.

For those who are unfamiliar, here's the general gist of the story - Fyre Festival was supposed to be this incredibly exclusive music festival, set on its own island in the Bahamas, with tickets priced anywhere between $1,000 right up to $250,000. Ja Rule was involved as one of the partners in the festival and the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and tons of those Instagram model influencer-types were promoting the thing.

Guests arrived on the island of Exumas to find that the place was basically deserted, using tents left over by charity relief instead of luxury glamping accommodation like they were promised, no running water or food (well, except for cheese sandwiches and that ran out pretty quickly) and just general chaos. The whole thing was being livetweeted by attendees and, by all accounts, it was a complete and utter shitshow that everyone else was utterly fascinated by.

The festival was supposed to last a week, but it now seems as though the whole thing's been scuppered and Ja Rule has even had to post a message on Twitter saying that the festival was "NOT A SCAM", and that the problems at the festival were not of his making.

While most people are laughing their asses off at all the poor little rich Instagram kids having a bad time of it, a report by PageSix says that the AAA+ guests - as in, the ones with their own yachts and people on a first-name basis with Jay Z and Beyonce - were told to stay away from the island before shit went sideways on the whole thing.

According to Page Six's source, the organisers "called all the A-list names and the modeling agencies and told them not to come... They were just like, ‘Oh, come next weekend when all the kinks have been worked out.’ This was before the chaos even started."

Meanwhile, one of the planners at the event - who quit six weeks before the whole thing started - wrote a scathingly honest piece for NY Mag which details just how much of a shitshow Fyre Festival was.
