Reports have emerged claiming that Joan Rivers' doctor took a selfie during a biopsy on the star, shortly before she went into cardiac arrest.

As investigations in to the cause of comedian Joan Rivers' death continue, new details have emerged that seem to suggest that her doctor performed a biopsy on the star while she was anesthetized, and stopped to snap a selfie while they were at it.

Yahoo, US Weekly and CNN have all reported that the incident apparently took place, while also adding that the procedure was unauthorised. They quote a source from Manhattan's Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, where Rivers was due for a scheduled endoscopy. The doctor, who has not been named, apparently began a biospy on her throat without her prior consent, and now investigators believe that "Rivers' vocal chords began to swell during the allegedly unauthorized biopsy, cutting off the flow of oxygen to her lungs", which lead to the cardiac arrest that saw Rivers hospitalised earlier this month.

As the investigation is ongoing, there has been no concrete cause given for her death, and the clinic in Manhattan have declined to comment in light of the latest claims about the selfie and the biopsy.
