Legendary British comedian Ken Dodd has died at the age of 90.
The Liverpool native, who was knighted in 2017, passed away at his home yesterday, just two days after marrying his partner of 40 years, Anne Jones.
His publicist Robert Holmes confirmed his death to the Press Association, saying "They got the registrar and were married in the house. He died two days later on Mother’s Day. Anne is obviously very upset. To my mind, he was one of the last music hall greats.”
He added: “With Ken gone, the lights have been turned out in the world of variety. He was a comedy legend and genius.”
Many fans and celebrities have already paid tribute to Dodd - famous for his prominent teeth, his 'tickling stick' and his characters the 'Diddy Men' - on social media:

Ah, Ken Dodd has died. So happy I got to meet him once, and more importantly, saw him do one of his incredible 5 hour shows. He was an education to watch and, afterwards, at 1.30 am, he had beers with me in the dressing room and talked showbiz. A privilege, and a loss. RIP.

RIP Sir Ken Dodd, 90.
One of the greatest comedians Britain has ever produced.
Died in the same home in Knotty Ash, Liverpool where he was born & always lived - after marrying his long time love Anne there just two days ago.

Goodnight Sir Ken Dodd.
I saw him live 5 years ago, at one of his mammoth 7 hour live shows. He was 85 then, and still at the top of his game.
A true one off. RIP Doddy. #kendodd pic.twitter.com/O71zscFv5h
