R&B artist Chris Brown was arrested yesterday at his home in LA after being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest followed an hours-long standoff with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 3am during which a woman accused the singer of pulling a gun on her when she reportedly admired an item of jewelery that Brown's friend was wearing. The woman has since been revealed as Baylee Curran, an actress and former beauty pageant contestant. Curran said she managed to run away from the house in Tarzana to make the call.

Officers arrived at the residence at 10am and Chris Brown barricaded himself inside. It was reported that he ‘appeared relaxed’ during the standoff, even lying down in front of the entrance to his house at one point.

While inside, Brown communicated with his fans via Instagram posts that have since been deleted. Using offensive language, he claimed that he was a victim and that he would not let the authorities in until they had a warrant.

A SWAT team was also reportedly dispatched to Brown’s home.

TMZ reported that during the standoff, Brown threw a bag of weapons out the window.

Several friends were at Brown’s house at the time and Curran was one of three ‘uninvited’ guests forced to leave.

A search warrant was obtained by police Tuesday afternoon and authorities spent hours at Brown's residence before he was taken into custody. Brown eventually came out of his home peacefully.

Brown was ‘arrested at some point this afternoon,’ says LAPD detective Meghan Aguilar. Although an exact time was not available, she said Brown was arrested before 5 p.m. The R&B star was booked into an LAPD jail facility before being transferred to county jail. Brown has since been released on a $250,000 bail.

Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney, confirmed Brown's release on Twitter, tweeting ‘Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy’

Brown is no stranger to arrests having assaulted his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, which he pleaded guilty to and received a six-year probationary sentence that ended in March 2015.

In 2012, he was busted for illegally possessing a firearm and in 2013 he was also arrested on a felony assault charge following a fight outside a hotel in Washington DC.
