You might assume, given that Bryce Dallas Howard has more than a few big hits under her belt - and the fact that she starred in the fourth-highest grossing movie of all time in 'Jurassic World' - that she's a) well-paid and b) pretty well-off at this point.

That's not the case, according to a new interview with the actress, who discusses gender inequality within the movie industry on various levels.

Howard said that she had recently been discussing pay inequity with a male co-star. "I said, ‘I’ve been number one on the call sheet the majority of the time, but always top five. Would you assume I have over a million dollars in the bank?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ ” [I said] “ ‘No. And that’s myself and my husband combined.’ His face was like, Wait, what?!” Yours too?"

She continued: "I’m not a spender. I live in a three-bedroom house — in fact, we just downsized. We have one family car, a Chevy Bolt. I know that we’re privileged; we don’t have to worry about paying our rent or our medical bills. But I wish people knew that this is what the life of most successful female celebrities is. What we get paid is totally, completely, astronomically different than what male celebrities get paid. And for women of color, it’s a hundred times worse.”

She went on to say that even her father, director Ron Howard, "has been shocked at how expensive it is to be a woman in the industry. You’re told that it’s important to have a manager as well as an agent, and for a guy that’s not as important. That’s 20% out of your paycheck rather than 10%.”
