Between the Jennifer Lawrence fact checking, the flaming nethers, and now this story of life and death, Amy Schumer's Vanity Fair interview really does keep on giving.

You may (or may not) have noticed a rather large scar on Schumer's leg, thanks to the now infamous photo featuring her crotch on fire. The cause of that scar nearly brought an end to her life, and it was she presence of mind that helped saved her life. While a lot of people would've panicked or passed out, Amy was busy yanking a suftboard out of her own leg.

Speaking of the incident, which took place during a surfing lesson in school, the comedian / writer said: "I have a pretty bad scar on my leg from surfing. Forty-one stitches, three layers. I skegged myself. My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself..."

Why was she by herself? Well, it was winter, so there was hardly anyone roaming around the beach - apart from this one guy: ""I was like, 'I need you to hold my leg.' I was delegating. And he held my leg closed with his bare hands - just fat and blood coming out... I wish I knew who that guy was, because he saved my life, for sure. He had blue toenail polish and nail polish; he had long stringy hair. And I remember him being beautiful. Anyway, he held my leg closed."

Recalling the ordeal, Amy even managed to bang out a few jokes to those assembled while waiting for the ambulance to arrive: "People kept putting towels and towels on me. I was like, 'I’m not cold - there’s a hole in my leg.' I was making jokes. It took maybe 15 minutes for the ambulance to get there." And of the prospect of losing her leg? She pictured the scene: "Now I’m going to have to go and be a speaker at high schools and, like, motivate people. I was so annoyed about my life. I was just like, Ucchh. And then it was fine."
