Right now, Trip Hazard are just another local band gigging around town, waiting for that elusive big break to come their way. Their latest EP, however, might just see the Dublin quartet break out of the pack. Instead of one single and a supporting feature, Stumble contains four slow-burning rock songs (plus a misguidedly flippant hidden track), each one creative and interesting in its own right. Pick of the bunch is the passionate 'Fred Astaire', with a soaring chorus that wouldn't sound out of place on afternoon radio. The band's greatest selling point, however, is the dual vocals of Dave Conway and Siobhan McNulty, which burnish with raw sexuality and give the songs a real emotional edge. Some overly-complex arrangements and awkward lyrics indicate that Trip Hazard still have a way to go - but this is definitely a band to keep an eye on.
