As bass player with the Wildhearts, Danny McCormack was an integral part one of the loudest, crudest British bands of the 90s. His new outfit is, if anything, even more primitive. This is old-school rock music, sweaty, greasy and dressed in black leather. Clearly the Yo-Yo's don't take themselves too seriously but despite, or perhaps because of this they've managed to produce a respectable debut album. A clutch of catchy, sleazy tunes and an infectious enthusiasm in the playing makes it an enjoyable listen, albeit one that's distinctly on the undemanding side.
