What a pity that all teenage bands have to grow up. The Donnas used to be one of America's most likeable punk-pop outfits, a gang of sassy young women whose sharp Ramones-esque tunes never outstayed their welcome. Now, however, they're all pushing 25 and in desperate need of some new ideas. So, they've toughened up their image, started using their real names and written a string of hard-rocking heavy metal tunes - and, sad to say, it doesn't suit them at all. Mainly, it's because they sound so uncharacteristically miserable - their lives still resolve around boys and booze, but for some reason neither seem to be doing it for them any more. Worse, the laboured riffs and shouty vocals resemble nothing so much as a collection of AC/DC castoffs. Back to the drawing board, girls.
