The Corrs are as popular a live act as ever, but their last couple of studio records suggested that their best days might be behind them. Presumably that's why they've gone back to their traditional roots, recording an entire album of old Irish songs, including such well-known standards as 'Spancil Hill', 'My Lagan Love' and 'Peggy Gordon'. You wouldn't expect anything radical from Dundalk's most famous exports and, sure enough, their versions are so safe and predictable that they border on the bland. When they try something more edgy, meanwhile, such as Phil Lynott's 'Old Town', the results only expose the weediness of their familiar strings'n'fiddles formula. Still, Andrea is in fine voice throughout and the quality of the songs themselves shines through, making this possibly the most straightforwardly enjoyable Corrs album to date.
