Teenage Fanclub - Howdy!

 rated 4

Review Date: 26 October 2000

You know exactly where you are with Teenage Fanclub - the Glasgow threesome have essentially been making the same album for almost a decade now. No marks for innovation then, but it has to be said that it's a very good album - melancholy, bittersweet guitar -driven songs which owe a heavy debt to the Beatles and the Byrds and have tunes you'll be humming for weeks after you've heard them. Howdy! is pure entertainment from beginning to end and the only real reservation is that the lyrics don't always do the songs justice.
