They were young, they ran green, kept their teeth nice and clean - and ten years ago, Supergrass's 'Alright' was the undisputed sound of the summer. Unfortunately, since then, most of their albums have just been - well, alright. Luckily, they've still managed to clock up plenty of infectious singles along the way, and they're all here on this foot-stomping compilation. The hairy Oxford boys aren't exactly the most intellectual band on the planet, and their influences (Madness, T-Rex, the bloody Beatles again) are often just a little too obvious for comfort. Even at their most derivative, however, they usually manage to knock out the kind of gloriously dumb pop tune that puts a goofy smile on even the most cynical face. So, happy birthday Supergrass - just don't grow up too soon.
