Super Furry Animals - MWNG
Review Date: 25 May 2000
Crazy as a bag of Celtic monkeys, the Super Furry Animals have recorded their fourth album MWNG, translated as 'mane' ('an extension of a super furry animal, something that keeps you warm'), entirely in Welsh. Not that it matters. Singer Gruff Rhys' elocution on previous albums was as far from Queen's English, and almost as far from comprehension, as Cardiff is from the Home Counties anyway. So, the elegiac pop melodies remain, possibly even more coherent this time out, and the lyrics go totally indecipherable. The next step towards Welsh domination?
