Super Furry Animals - Love Kraft
Review Date: 15 August 2005
The first thing you hear when you put on Love Kraft is the splashing noise of a Super Furry Animal diving into a Spanish swimming pool. Wales's finest indie band, it transpires, have said goodbye to Cardiff for a while and gone to live the good life in the Latin sunshine. As a result they sound more like the Beach Boys than ever, turning out languid melodies and blissful harmonies as if it was the most natural thing in the world. It could all so easily slide into blandness, but thankfully the Furries have retained the zany sense of humour that helped them to survive the Britpop burnout. So we get frenetic wordplay, old-time waltzes and Catalan choirs - all of which only make these charming songs even lovelier. Sooner or later, these guys are bound to make a bad album. But it hasn't happened yet.
