Sugababes - Taller In More Ways
Review Date: 17 October 2005
This is the fourth album from the Sugababes, which is three more than most pop bands seem to manage these days. On the oddly titled Taller In More Ways, however, the cracks in their uneasy relationship are finally beginning to show. There's still enough synth-poptastic moments to justify the price of admission, infused with the urban sassiness that made them so popular in the first place. But too many tracks here sound laboured and contrived, while the trademark ballads are as boring as they've always been. The problem is, the Babes have been so good in the past that when they're merely ok, it comes as a disappointment. Fans will be happy enough and there's at least another three singles that could follow 'Push the Button' to the top of the charts. Just don't be surprised if those solo careers are launched in the near future.
