Sinead O'Connor's public activities- becoming a priest, declaring she's a lesbian etc. have been given so much exposure that you could be forgiven for forgetting that she sometimes makes records as well. Sadly her first major release in five years suggests that in this case her trauma has not been translated into great art. The voice is as good as ever but it's wrapped around rambling arrangements and it's singing some truly awful lyrics. A sad record in every sense of the word.
