Back in the days of Britpop it was fashionable to sneer at Shed Seven - but the runts of the litter have had the last laugh. While flashier rivals such as Menswear imploded years ago, these York boys quietly went about their business, collecting enough chart singles to release a Greatest Hits collection in 1999. Their first album since then is more of the same - swaggering, meat and potatoes guitar rock with a keen ear for a pop hook and naggingly familiar choruses. It's nothing that hasn't been heard before but there's something vaguely heroic about these plucky underdogs that makes them difficult to dislike.
