Primal Scream - Exterminator
Review Date: 30 January 2000
Oh, this could all have been so poetic. Creation's last release, another Scream album at the start of a decade, time to re-define the perameters of popular music once again etc etc..
But in the end Exterminator falls just short. Primal Scream still have that bombastic insouciance, indefinable style and ear for a tune, but they seem to have lost the need for pure innovation. In short, too much sounds too easy. That said, 'Swastika Eyes' does the business, and Bernard Sumner's collaboration helps add definition to a fine closer. But what in the name of all that's beautiful is 'Pills'? It's lazy, that's what, like too much of this offering.
