Pernice Brothers - The World Won't End
Review Date: 01 June 2001
The alt-country genre has rarely been in better shape than today, with a whole host of groups and solo performers lining up to inherit Neil Young's mantle. The disparate group of Massachusetts musicians who make up the Pernice Brothers already have a substantial Irish fanbase and their latest album is another homespun gem, mixing Americana melodicism with an engaging air of lo-fi intimacy. A summery pop record that proudly wears its heart on its sleeve, this is one to savour slowly and often.
