Paul Brady - Say What You Feel
Review Date: 07 February 2005
Paul Brady has always been in a strange position. His songs have been covered by everyone from Tina Turner to Ronan Keating, but the Tyrone man remains almost completely unknown outside Ireland. His first album in four years won't change that, but it's still another enjoyable effort that showcases all of Brady's virtues: sturdy musicianship, thoughtful lyrics and good old-fashioned tunes that your milkman (if you still have such a thing) could whistle. The relentlessly earnest tone gets a bit trying after a while, and Brady sometimes adopts a cod-American accent that doesn't really suit his voice at all. Still, there'll be plenty of international stars who'll be keen to get their hands on a copy, looking for potential hits - and they won't be disappointed. A real grower.
