No-one would deny Ozzy Osbourne his place in rock history - his years with Black Sabbath left a legacy which can never be forgotten. The new album from the aging metaller, however, is so weak and hamfisted that you can't help wondering whether it wouldn't be better for him to gracefully retire. He's always had a tendency to lapse into pious moralising and here he indulges himself to the full, with a string of gormless songs about the environment, mental illness and the evils of addiction. Combine Osbourne's heavyhanded lyrics with some equally leaden thrash workouts and you've got a fairly hellish combination, one that's repeated ad nauseum throughout this embarrassment of an album. Only a diehard Sabbath fan could love it - and even that's open to doubt.
