You could be forgiven for groaning cynically at the prospect of another album from a dead rapper. In fact, however, this posthumous release from Ol' Dirty Bastard is far more worthy of your attention than most of these record company cash-ins. Perhaps it's because the ex-Wu Tang Clan star was always more of a spontaneous performer than a polished artist, with the result that his studio experiments were often just as intriguing as the finished product. He was also the king of ridiculous rhymes, barking out fabulously surreal lyrics that might not mean a whole lot but somehow still manage to lodge in the memory. These 15 tracks find him in fine space cadet form, and the suitably minimalist backing tracks give the proceedings a suitably eerie air. A fitting testament to a talent that was, like so many others in the rap community, sadly cut short.
