Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

 rated 4

Review Date: 14 September 2004

Is there room for two members of the Bedingfield family in the pop charts? Judging by the reaction of the great record-buying public, the answer is yes - the brooding 'Single' has already been a big hit for Natasha, and its follow-up 'These Words' has repeated its success. These two songs kick off her debut album and while the rest isn't quite up to the same standard, there's just enough quality left over to prove that she's more than just Daniel's baby sister. Natasha's lyrics tend to be on the serious side, and some of the moralising might turn off people who want their pop stars to be a little less well-behaved. More to the point, however, she seems to be able to turn her hand to R'n'B, reggae and even Pink-style rock and carry them all off with equal ease. How proud must the parents be?
