NPB - The Sociables Prefer Pop Music
Review Date: 11 July 2000
If NPB didn't exist I doubt whether any A and R man would have wanted to invent them - they're quirky, perverse and capable of sounding like half a dozen different bands in the course of a three-minute song. This debut album from the Dublin trio mixes buzzing guitar riffs with lounge lizard beats, all rounded off by some engagingly bizarre lyrics. This is the true Sound of the Underground. How they'll follow this is impossible to imagine but whatever happens, this record will remain a little gem.
